2nd Annual Golf Tournament

The 2nd Annual Golf Tournament was a huge success. More than 90 golfers enjoyed a fantastic day on the course at the Langdon Farms Golf Course. The Scramble format was enjoyed by all levels of golfers. As well as 18 holes of golf, there were 7 contest holes where participant won prizes from gift certificates, 2 round trip tickets on Jet Blue and a Peter Jacobsen autographed driver. Over 25 volunteers made sure the day went smoothly and was a fun event for all. After a day on the course, we had an Awards banquet and silent Auction as well as the 19th hole golf ball drop.

While enjoying great food, participants placed bids on silent auction items that ranged from: Wine packages, Trip for 2 to Peeble Beach, Gourmet Dinner for 4, assorted gift certificates and a weekend at a vacation home in Tahoe. Dr Thomasz Beers from OHSU Knight Cancer Foundation shared with us the progress made in Prostate Cancer Research. The Golf Ball drop ended our evening. 500 raffles were sold for a chance to win 2 round trip tickets on Alaska Airlines and a week at Villa Del Palmar in Cabo.

500 numbered golf balls were dropped from a helicopter and Kathryn Shapton’s ball was closest to the hole. She and her family enjoyed a week in Cabo in December.

What an amazing day – but what is even more amazing is that we were able to raise $22,000.00. The proceeds were donated to: Par for Life – a non-profit that promotes Prostate Cancer awareness and research. OHSU Knight Cancer Institute – funds donated were directed to fund Prostate Cancer Research. Prostate Cancer Foundation – a foundation that provides information about Prostate Cancer.
